Officials from the Japanese government visited Sutton Shopmobility in January to see how the charity helps makes the community more accessible to people with limited mobility.
Two delegates from Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism visited Sutton Shopmobility, as part of a research visit to the UK to investigate services that help the elderly and disabled get around town centres.
Sutton Shopmobility were delighted to be one of 14 local charities invited to Cheam Rotary’s Annual Presentation Evening last week. In December a team of 7 Sutton Shopmobility staff and volunteers accompanied Cheam Rotary’s legendary Santa Sleigh around North Cheam collecting on behalf of local charities. ”The annual event is always a lot of fun and a great way of ushering in Christmas “, explained Sutton Shopmobility Manager, Amanda Beck.
Sutton Shopmobility participated in International Older People’s Day on 4th October at Civic offices. The event ( organised by Age Uk was well attended and manager Amanda was ably assisted by fantastic volunteers Sue, Chris and James who demonstrated the benefits of our Olympic scooters.

Local charity Sutton Shopmobility today celebrated their Sutton Community Fund Grant with their launch of Monday openings.
The wheelchair & mobility scooter hire service (based in St Nicholas Centre car park) is now open Monday to Saturday – thanks to funding from the Sutton Community Fund grant.
