The Sutton Shop Mobility garage is made up of several different types of vehicle. Below are details and photographs for each of the different types.

4 Wheel Scooters

Scooters give our members the independence to do their own shopping. 4 Wheeled Scooters are more stable, and are therefore ideal for the beginner, amputees and people in stroke rehab. A certain level of strength needed in the shoulders to operate the tiller.
The controls are easy to use and most people become adept on their first visit. These scooters are manoeuvrable and suitable for most shops. The weight capacity for this size vehicle is under (133kg) 21 stone. We have in total of 7 Four wheeled scooters.

3 Wheel Scooters

3 Wheeled Scooters are for the more experienced user, they are not as stable to drive as 4 wheelers, but are more manoeuvrable inside the shops, and they give the user more leg room. The weight capacity for this size vehicle is under (95kg) 15 stone. We have in total 5 Three wheeled scooters.

Powered Chairs

Some people prefer Powered wheelchairs as they give both the independence and are more manoeuvrable than the scooters, they also need less strength in the shoulders. However they have a control joystick which will take longer to master, as these are very sensitive. The weight capacity for this type of chair is between (115kg-127kg) 18-20stone.
We have 3 Powered wheelchairs which have dual control, this can be operated from the back by an assistant or can be used as normal by the member, this is particularly useful for assistants with back problems. We also have 1 Powered wheelchair that can be switched from left to right, for members whether they are right or left handed. Within this Total of all 6 Powered chairs, we have two smaller chairs which are suitable for paediatric use.

Transit

Transit small wheeled manual chairs are for those members who prefer to be pushed and are not able to use either a Powered Chair or Scooter. These come with a comfortable cushion and a small bag on the back to hold shopping, two of the chairs have leg extensions, for left or right legs. We have in total 6 Transit chairs. The weight capacity for these chairs is (95kg) 15 stone.

Light Weight

Lightweight Transit chairs, these are very easy to push, and have bicycle type brakes on the handles thus making it easier for the operator, as it saves bending down, and can be applied when going down ramps or steep hills.
We have in total 2 lightweight chairs. Weight capacity (115kg) 18stone.

Self Propelling

Self propelling Large wheeled chairs can be pushed by operator (friends or family) as well as the member being able to manoeuvre this themselves, it is ideal for inside shops. This also has a cushion and small bag for the back of the chair. The weight capacity of this type of chair is under (95kg) 15 stone.
We have in total 4 Self- propelling chairs.
