Sutton Shopmobility is a charity based in the St Nicholas Centre carpark, offering a manual wheelchair, electric wheelchair and powered scooter loan service for people with mobility problems. We can also offer longer term hire on wheelchairs and a collapsible scooter. Come and visit our office on Level 3 where we also sell a selection of daily living aids, walking sticks, rollators etc.
Sutton Shopmobility is part of the QEF family of charities but independently funded. The service is financed through a combination of local authority grant, hire fees, fundraising initiatives and projects designed to create revenue and of course the generosity of our supporters. We are an independent charity.
QEF family of charities
From 1 June 2012 we joined the QEF family of charities. QEF is a leading disability charity with 80 years’ experience of developing innovative services which enable and support people to increase independence and improve opportunities for life. Find out more about QEF here.
QEF comprises three main services: QEF Mobility Services at Carshalton Beeches, QEF Neuro Rehabilitation Services at Banstead and QEF Independent Living Services at Dorincourt. Our Head Office is based in Leatherhead Court in Leatherhead. QEF also manages a chain of 18 charity shops.
The QEF family of charities began with the merger with the Voluntary Association of Surrey Disabled (VASD), now based at the Head Office site, which provides mobility aids for purchase or loan and wheelchair accessible holiday homes on the Sussex Coast and an accessible canal boat, QEF Jubilee, on the Grand Union Canal.
The family also includes MERU, based in Epsom, which provides specialised custom-built assistive technology for disabled children as well as some off-the-shelf accessories. MERU have recently launched their TravelChair, which enables severely disabled children to travel by air in safety and comfort.
